No guesswork

Three things we'll put in writing

Every site is different, so nobody in this industry will tell you what a survey costs or when you'll get it. Here is what we will actually commit to.

What it really costs

£395 to £900

What a domestic BS5837 survey and constraints plan actually comes to, small site to large. Not a headline figure that changes once we have seen it.

What drives the price →

Your quote

One Working Day

A fixed fee in writing within one working day of your enquiry. Not a range, not an hourly rate, and it does not move once we are on site.

Your report

Five days

Delivered within five working days of the survey, against an industry norm of two to three weeks.

Why we are faster →

Impact assessments from £345 and method statements from £145 when taken alongside a survey. We will tell you free of charge if you need less than you think you do, which happens more often than you would expect.

Why our number looks higher than the adverts

Because it is the real one. Entry prices advertised elsewhere start at £249 to £349, and they buy a minimal survey on a small, simple site. Industry figures put a typical residential job at £600 to £1,200 — so most people who click a £249 advert are quoted several hundred pounds more once someone has actually looked at the site.

We would rather show you the range you are genuinely likely to pay and be occasionally passed over for it, than win the click and have the awkward conversation afterwards. If your site really is small and simple, you will pay the bottom of that range.

YOUR PLOT House Proposed extension Category A oak RPA radius This overlap is why it gets refused
Root protection area Proposed works Conflict
The root protection area is the thing that decides your layout. For a single-stem tree it is a circle with a radius of roughly twelve times the stem diameter — so a mature oak with a 600mm stem carries a protected zone about 7m out in every direction. Build into it and you are into refusal territory. Find it before the drawings are finished and the extension simply goes somewhere else.

How it works

Four steps, and you know the price before anyone visits

Tell us about the site

Postcode, roughly how many trees, what you're proposing and your deadline. If you have your council's validation checklist, send it — it tells us exactly which documents you need and, often, which you don't.

Get a fixed fee within one working day

A written price and a survey date. Not an hourly rate, not a range, and not subject to revision once we are on site.

We survey the site

A qualified arborist records every relevant tree to BS5837:2012 — species, dimensions, condition, category — and checks TPO and conservation area status while they're there.

Report within five working days

Survey schedule, constraints plan and recommendations, signed by the consultant who wrote it. Ready to go straight into your application.

Why we're faster

The survey is here. The write-up runs on a different clock.

Every survey is done in person, on your site, by a qualified arborist working in the UK. There is no other way to do one properly and we would not pretend otherwise.

The slow part was never the visit. It is the write-up and the drawings, which is why most consultancies quote two to three weeks. Part of our reporting team works from New Zealand, eleven hours ahead — so field data recorded on a Monday afternoon here is being written up at the start of their Tuesday, while the UK is asleep.

That is a structural advantage rather than a promise to try harder, and it is why we can put five working days in writing instead of hoping.

Coverage

UK-wide, and quickest across Scotland and Yorkshire

We survey across the United Kingdom. Our own surveyors are densest across the Scottish Central Belt — Glasgow, Edinburgh and Stirling — and the Leeds to York corridor, so those are the sites we can usually get to soonest.

Every application is submitted to a local planning authority with its own validation checklist and its own approach to protected trees. Find the requirements for your council.

Get a fixed price

Tell us about the site and we will come back with a fixed fee and a date. No charge for asking, and no charge for being told you need less than you thought.

Your fixed fee comes back within one working day. No obligation, no follow-up chasing, and your details go to nobody except the consultant quoting the work.
